description With its beautiful appearance, the Australian Velvet Gecko can make a lovely captive lizard. These secretive animals will thrive in a proper set-up, and can be easily bred by lizard keepers with a bit of experience.

housing
natural habitats Arboreal ; dweller in dry sclerophyll forests and woodlands of eucalyptus or Callitris across the ranges and slopes of its range: usually found beneath bark or in crevices of standing or fallen trees.
cage It should be high instead of wide for Arboreal reptiles. (e.g. Wooden Terrarium, Glass Terrarium)
branch As it is Arboreal, a lot of branches are needed to climb and stay on (e.g. Habba Tree , Sand-Blasted Grapevine)
substrate Soil, gravel, barks (e.g. Repti Bark, Coconut Bark)
activity period Nighttime (nocturnal);
give heat and help monitoring by infrared lamps (e.g. Nightlight Red Bulb, Infrared Heat Lamp) where the light is invisible for it but humans
temperature 26 - 30 ¢XC -- day   (e.g. Daylight Blue Bulb)
21 - 26 ¢XC -- night   (e.g. Nightlight Red Bulb, Infrared Heat Lamp)

water dish a small water dish (e.g. Rock water dish) should be available to access all the time
diet
diet Insectivorous (insects-eating);
various small arthropods (e.g. insects, worms, crickets, etc)
notes Remove all the remaining insects because they (specially crickets) will be harassing it at night, resulting stress.
reproduction
reproduction Oviparous ; juveniles are much darker (purplish-black) with the ocelli a contrasting yellow.
eggs Captive females may lay up to 5 clutches per year. The eggs can be Incubated at between 26 to 28 ¢XC and will hatch in 55 to 60 days.
