Solar Drops
Designed to deliver a regular controlled
dose of natural dietary cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3) to your
captive reptile. a more concentrated solution, are for diurnal
(daytime active) species of reptile.
|
|
 |
|
|
Avantages of Solar Drops :
1. Eliminates the need of expensive UVB lighting systems or
other vitamin D3 supplements.
2. Prevents and reverses Metabolic Bone Disease in captive
Green Iguanas and other lizard, turtle and tortoise species.
3. Uniquely palatable formulas for diurnal (daytime active)
reptiles
4. Tested and proven at captive reptile breeding farms around
the world
Today there are a number of fluorescent
lights designed to give out some artificial u.v.b. irradiation.
These devices are made to a relatively low specification so
that they are both safe and legal for domestic use. As a result,
their u.v.b. output is ridiculously low. Using a special u.v.b.
light meter, detection is zero at distances of more than 12
inches. For maximum reptile benefit, they would actually have
to be able to sit on the light itself. If placed at the top
of an average vivarium, the light's use is at best psychological
and, at worse, useless for the reptile's physiology of cholecalciferol
synthesis.
The makers of these u.v.b. lights claim
to "help prevent" metabolic bone disease and to "strengthen
and improve" shell growth in turtles. Note that they do not
claim to cure these problems. Solar Drops will cure both of
these conditions, effect successful reproduction and allow
all your reptiles to thrive and not just survive.

ReptoBoost
REPTOBOOST is a probiotic combination
of bacteria, enzymes, electrolytes and vitamins. Its high
palatability means it can be added to the drinking water making
its use simple for all species of reptiles. It is also ideal
for use by stomach tube in rehydrating reptiles which have
become dehydrated.
REPTOBOOST contains: ¡P Lactobacillus
with Streptococcus faecium which live for a short time in
the gut, helping to stabilise the pH. ¡P Yeasts to provide
a source of amino acids and vitamins. ¡P lipase, amylase, protease
and cellulase. ¡P electrolytes to aid in maintaining adequate
levels in reptiles with diarrhoea which lose electrolytes
and maltodextrins for sustained energy It is only necessary
for probiotics to live a short time to establish the right
conditions. By their combined action the ingredients of AVIPRO
help to create and maintain slightly acidic conditions in
the gut to provide the correct background for the reptiles
own flora to re-stabilise.
The electrolytes and dextrose incorporated
into REPTOBOOST also contribute in a major way.
A very important aspect is the use
by the veterinary surgeon in reptiles which are under treatment
with antibacterials where the normal flora may be unbalanced
and a bloom of inappropriate bacteria may occur causing perhaps
haemorrhagic enteritis.
For support of stressed reptiles use
4g (one scoop) per 100 ml of drinking water

Arkvits
This is a broad spectrum high-potency
multivitamin and trace element mixture for general supplementation
of foods particularly for large more adult reptiles. ARKVITS
is a blend of NUTROBAL and ACE-HIGH (2:1) to provide a ready
palatable source of essential vitamins and calcium. It is
suitable for routine use. It provides a calcium:phosphorus
ratio of 30:1 suitable for maintenance of adult reptiles enhanced
with vitamins A,C and E.
It is suitable also for sprinkling
onto food for reptiles and amphibia, including adult tortoises.
Because it is a high potency product the actual quantity of
powder required to achieve adequate levels of intake is reduced
when compared to the products formulated as general purpose
multivitamins by other companies. This overcomes the palatability
problems which can be encountered when supplementing these
difficult animals.
We recommend the use of ARKVITS when
a general multivitamin is wanted for adult animals rather
than one for young growing animals or those with special requirements.

BSP Vitamin Drops
BSP stands for Broad SPectrum. These
are high potency vitamin drops so that only a small amount
is needed.
Many reptiles benefit from vitamins
in the water. Snakes fed on fish such as garter snakes can
develop a deficiency of vitamin B1. Alligators and crocodiles
can also do this but they are easier to supplement with ARKVITS
etc). Because the actual food items of garter snakes and other
very small species are small and are often fed by placing
them in a water bowl, powdered supplements are not very successful.
Even large snakes fed weekly or fortnightly
and supplemented at the time can benefit from vitamins in
their water in the interim. They are often fed frozen laboratory
rodents which are often overweight. This can lead to vitamin
E deficiency and steatitis (inflamed fat) which is prevented
by use of BSP.
Tortoises also develop steatitis and
will often accept vitamins in the water when they avoid vitamins
on food (preferring to eat the plants in the garden). Lettuce
is low in carotene and vitamin A and is a staple item for
most tortoises, BSP gives an alternative way of providing
this vitamin.

Tamodine
This has a wide spectrum of activity
against bacteria, protozoa, yeasts, fungi and some viruses.
It has all of the activity of free iodine but with much reduced
irritant sensitising effects, and it does not stain.
Tamodine is suitable for cleaning mouth
rot lesions in the mouths of reptiles. These are likely also
to need antibiotic treatment from a Veterinary Surgeon and
will also benefit from supplementation with ACE-HIGH (this
is likely to be necessary as part of a tube feeding program).
We suggest that you apply some Tamodine to wet cotton wool
and use this to gently cleanse the surface of ulcers or wounds.
Once clean, wipe off any excess, and release the animal.
POVIDONE-IODINE COMPOUNDS - Referred
to by Holt 1981 (in "Diseases of the Reptilia" Volume 1. edited
by J.E.Cooper & O.F.Jackson) as "Probably the most consistently
safe antiseptics/disinfectants of value are the povidone-iodine
compounds..."
We would advise against using TAMODINE
in amphibia since they can absorb chemicals through the skin.
We are aware of a case of an axolotl which metamorphosed following
TAMODINE treatment, presumably due to the iodine entering
the circulation.
